South African Trevor Immelman became the first player in 32 years to win The Masters after leading wire-to-wire.

Immelman survived a later scare to record the victory and emulate Raymond Floyd feat in 1976.

Tiger Woods had to settle for second as his Grand Slam hopes were brought to an end, while Padraig Harrington was the leading European in fifth.

But how good was the 2008 Masters? Can Immelman now build on this success? And how disappointing was it to see the European challenge falter?

I wonderful why the European players had not really put up a good fight till the end. Tiger though was 6 strokes behind at the beginning of the last round he continued to believe in himself that he was still in a position to win. If the Europeans can attain his attitude I think many Majors will fall into the hands of the European players

What an absolute joke that Tiger Woods' caddie was reprimanded for not wearing his cap. How many people actually are bothered. Golf - full of rules that don't need to be there.......RUBBISH!

I think it appalling that anyone, especially individuals in positions such as Tony Wrighton's, would laugh at Brandt Snedeker crying after his wild ride at The Masters. With such little compassion, I hope Mr. Wrighton does not have children, or pets for that matter!

Trevor i hope you can go on and improve plus win more as your career progresses. Our guys dont seem to have the bottle to cross the finish line unless its team golf (ryder cup) and theres a big difference between individual and foursomes / team golf. Please sky get the masters on your channels, bbc just dont have the coverage plus why is Gary Lineker the main presenter?????

Well Done Trevor you are a credit to your country and for all of golf you are a true champion.Your control of the driver and short irons not to mention your cool nerve was key to your success. It was also good to see the Europeans coming through, alas it was not to be, but they can go away with the positives of taken center stage at such a prestigious event. Cant wait for next year!

Great golf from Immelman and he dealt with the pressure of the back 9 very well especially when everyone else was making mistakes. It was a well deserved victory.. also nice to hear Harrington wasn't happy finishing 5th, good to see he's got the ambition to match his ability to win another major...Roll on US open!!

Once again the British challenge floundered after a promising start. I thought Casey had every chance today but he really blew it. Our boys don't seem capable of putting together four solid rounds of golf these days.
